DIY: Oh Honey!

Got dry, brittle hair? Add some honey to your conditioner. Yes...HONEY! A couple friends of mine (Hey Whit & Angie) mentioned this little tidbit to me so one day I gave it a try. I mixed a little bit of the honey I had in my pantry with my conditioner and after my a quick blow dry, my hair was super soft! The honey pulls moisture from the air into your hair. Use this if you have natural or relaxed hair. It works wonders!

Beauty Within: Giving

Ahhhhhh it's Christmastime! All the kids are excited about the gifts they will be receiving from Santa and their family....but what about those children who are just wishing for the necessities for Christmas? This year my husband, our two boys and I decided to adopt a family at Operation Breakthrough. I do a lot of volunteer work with Operation Breakthrough and love doing events and fundraisers for them. Last year at this time, I had a toy drive for them and the support & gifts we received were amazing! I am doing the toy drive again this year but I wanted to do a little more. I received an email from them explaining their Adopt-A-Family program and we signed right up! We received our family which consisted of a single mom with two daughters. I got so excited to shop for girls since I don't have any daughters myself. The girls are 8 & 15 so I was able to get all kinds of fun things. I hope they enjoy their Christmas I am glad we got to be a part of it. I pictured a few of the items below!

Lip Service

This time of the year, we need to pay extra attention to some of our features especially our lips. We need to keep them from being chapped and gross. Pick up a great moisturizing lip balm and keep your lips kissable at all times. Another trick is to brush your lips. Yes, brush your lips. After you brush your teeth, use your toothbrush to exfoliate your lips for that extra goodness! Below I have posted a few of the lip balms I like to use. One of the Baby Lips by Maybeline and the Burt's Bees are tinted balms. I really love the Baby Lips! Leave your lips hydrated and it smells good!

Sparkle Doll!

Everyone loves to sparkle and shine, and what better time to do it than the Holiday season! I have racked up a few glittery nail polishes from OPI and have rocked two in the past month. I have gathered a couple of them and pictured them below. Above I am wearing OPI's Glow Up Already and a couple weeks ago I donned OPI's Gettin Miss Piggy With It. I love love love these polishes but they are a little difficult to remove. With Gettin Miss Piggy With It, I used a base coat before and a top coat after so I was able to just peel this polish off with no hassle at all. I will see how difficult the new color is to remove and I will let you guys know. Don't be afraid to sparkle and try some today!

Oh darling!! Holly Golightly's Home for Sale

If you can tell by my blogs name and if you know me at all, you know my love for "Breakfast at Tiffany's" character Holly Golightly, and every other piece of that book and movie, runs deep. Of course I became a fan of the movie on Facebook and today when I logged on, I saw a post about the Manhattan townhome Miss Golightly called her home being for sale! For a cool 5.85 mil, this beautiful, iconic home could be yours (or mine)! I swear you could never have the mean reds in this place! Oh I die!!

People You Should Know: Shavonne DeAnn

Meet: Shavonne DeAnn

Shavonne DeAnn is a hot new fashion designer on the scene. I got my 1st peek at her in a post on The Fashion Bomb Blog and I had to find her and learn more about her. I took at peek at her online shop and fell in LOVE!! Shavonne knows how to mix sexy with casual for a look we don't see too often. Not only are her pieces chic, but very affordable. I got the pleasure on interviewing her so check it out below!

Hey Shavonne....Describe your personal style.
My style is very versatile. It varies on how I'm feeling.

What other positions have you held in the fashion industry?
Not so much, I was a fashion assistant for TRACE magazine and a production assistant at Kate Spade, but these were internships when I was in college.

Name a few of your fave designers.
Myself, Marc Jacobs, Rachel Roy, Jeremy Scott just to name a few.

Who is that dream celeb to you would love to see don one of your designs?
Hmmmm there's so many (LOL) All the Kardashian sisters, Rhianna, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, June Ambrose, Solange and Beyonce so many more though.

Angela Simmons in the Aisha Two-Colored Dress

What gave you the idea to make your own runway at NYFW?
I was just starting to work on my first line and I was talking with my boyfriend on how I can produce a show with little to no money. So we were discussing different ways and options then we came up with me just crashing NYFW guerrilla style. I spent my last $200 bucks to rent a 12 passenger van, ask my model friends to model for me and my friends for moral support and it took off! I received tons of great feedback that day I will never forget. So just making the fashion community see my line and most important my dream of one day being the next top designer and I have faith and truly believe that I am.

Do you listen to music while you create? If so, what artists?
Yes I do listen to music, usually its just Pandora with stations like Kid Cudi, Wale, Drake, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Solange, Rhianna and Beethoven, Chopin and The Rose station, weird I know but it's very relaxing. There's tons more of where that came from too (LOL)

What obstacles have you had to overcome in the industry?
I think I'm still experiencing obstacles it's very hard running a business when you don't have a background, but thank God for the internet where I can teach myself and go through life experiences. I'm learning new and different things everyday and I'm making mistakes, but I'm not afraid of making mistakes, mistake are good at least some of them. It just makes you better for the next time.

What advice do you have to give to aspiring designers?
NEVER give up and always, always, always keep a positive attitude along with a great feeling. Whatever your thinking in your mind no matter what it is, your attracting it! Happiness is the fuel for success! Think it, feel it and act on it!

Where can we see Shavonne in 5 years?
Scary question, lol. In 5 years you can see Shavonne DeAnn with her empire in many big fashion shows around the world NYFW, PFW along with many others, Vogue magazine with many others and on TV.

Check out some of Shavonne's pieces below and don't forget to visit her online store: Shavonne DeAnn
