What's Her Style?: Jasmine Pennamma

Beautifully gorgeous is not only one way to describe Jasmine Pennamma's jewelry, but you can also use those words to describe her and her style. This LA jewelry designer with an NYC twist, let's us know about personal & trendy style.

Love Child/Wild Child: "I have dual style personalities. I have a love child who is my soft and ultra feminine side that favors flowy fabrics, and sophisticated styles that give way to flirty silhouettes. Then there's the night child in me that still loves to go out and give off a tough yet sexy edge. I'll go for studs, grommets, and anything leather to bring out my inner wild child. I pay attention to the trends to see what is new out there, but ultimately, I'm only going to buy what I like. Especially as a designer, the most important lesson I have learned is to trust my intuition. Trends play a huge part in fashion, but putting your own spin on things as only you can, is the key to having style." - JP

Do It: Socks & Heels

A recycled super cute trend from the 80's is catching on again: socks with heels! The trick is to make sure your socks aren't too thick and your shoes aren't too fancy! To me, the bulkier the shoe, the better. Try it! I have and I love it!

Designer Dish: Korto Momolu

Korto Momolu
(prononuced cut-toe mo-mo-lu)

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing a designer who holds nothing back in her designs and creates something for everyone, even us girls with curves, Korto Momolu. You may remember Korto from Project Runway season 5 as the runner up but she is far from 2nd best. Learn more about Korto's life, fashion & passion for what she does below:

Me: Can you remember the first piece you ever designed?
Korto Momolu: I made a vest and a skirt....not my best work lol

Me: How was life growing up in Liberia? Ontario?
Korto: Liberia is such a beautiful place. Growing up there was a magical experience. Now that I am older and have not been home in a long time, I hold those memories closer than anything. Canada was really great because of the multicultural population. You see people that are like you everyday, immigrants who went through the same thing you go through.

Me: Growing up, who were some of your idols in the fashion world?
Korto: love Byron Lars and Tracy Reese for paving the way. Valentino and Oscar de la Renta and Donna Karan for being my inspirations.

Me: What made you sign up for Project Runway?
Korto: I was ready for the next level of my career and needed international recognition.

Me: How was life on a reality show?
Korto: It was very crazy, living in a box is never fun but it was what I needed to do to get through the process. When you're not working it's actually rather boring lol!

Me: Biggest regret?
Korto: Letting my emotions get the best of me sometimes and not fighting for my views more is regretful but I would do everything again and finish 2nd because that was my destiny.

Me: Proudest moment?
Korto: Walking down the Bryant Park runway with my daughter Alyse.

Me: What are the 3 essential pieces a lady must have in her wardrobe?
Korto: A great bag, a great fitting party dress, a great pair of well fitted jeans.

Me: If you weren't a designer, what would you be?
Korto: an attorney or a choreographer.

Me: Where can we purchase your clothing & accessories?
Korto: Korto Momolu and Dillards.

Me: What is your fave quote?
Korto: "When you lose it's not over, when you quit it's OVER" - unknown.

Ear Candy: Usher ft. will.i.am "OMG"

Another great song to get dressed to and dance around!

Vintage Poolside

I have been seeing a lot of fabulous vintage swimwear lately and this is a trend that I would love to see more people follow. Gorgeous high-waisted bottoms with cute tie tops will be just what you need poolside. Step outside the box and leave the plain bikini and one piece behind and take a step back into time when everything was glamorous! I will make sure I don one of these babies while having fun in the sun!

Who wears short shorts?

As summer draws near, it is time for those short denim shorts! You can wear them with anything from tights to socks, from sandals to boots. Got some old jeans laying around? Make your own cut off shorts and be your own designer! I remember doing that awhile ago. Took scissors to my old jeans and made them into cut offs and even cut the back pockets off for a more unique look. Any way you choose to wear them, make sure you wear them well just like Beyonce does below in her True Religion Bobby Cut Off shorts.

Want these shorts? Only $172

Siwy: Madeleine $163.00

Current/Elliot: The Boyfriend $163.00

BDG: Boyfriend $48.00

Sole Stalker: Jeffery Campbell "Clinic"

These shoes just look fun and fab!
